| Woodslide My latest creation (in cooperation with Gerald Kaufmann) is a slide didgeridoo. In this instrument an artistically and perfectly shaped body made of high-grade wood is combined with a high-tech slide made of anodised aluminium. The slide range of the "Woodslide" opens up completely new dimensions of sound and playing with a unique range of notes! Depending on the basic tone they are made in, they provide the musician with a range of up to five basic notes. These instruments can be very easily tuned, within seconds, to every other instrument, enabling their users to play together with other musicians. The sound of these "Woodslide" didgeridoos is far better than even good eucalyptus didgeridoos! Thanks to their almost perfect shape, they have a clear, pure sound, rich in overtones. The mouthpiece is combined with the inner slide tube, and has a broad edge that is easy to grip, making it easier to vary the note while playing. There is permanent, elastic contact between the outside of the slide mechanism and the body of the didgeridoo, so that these two materials can perfectly harmonise with each other. If you wait just two to three seconds after moving the tube, the slide mechanism locks the tube into place, preventing an unintentional movement while you are paying the instrument. This slide didgeridoo should appeal to professional musicians and also ambitious hobbyists, because it can be precisely and quickly tuned to other instruments when playing with other musicians. |
